Tri-ply stainless steel suits daily cooking and slow-cooked dishes because the aluminium core spreads heat evenly. Aluminium and hard anodised pieces are lighter and suit quick tempering.

Choose the size

Tri-ply stainless steel is the better long-term choice. The aluminium core spreads heat evenly between two steel layers, and there is no coating to wear off. Aluminium and hard anodised pieces are lighter and cost less.

Which idly maker should I choose?
The Optima Idly Maker comes in 8, 12, 15 and 20 idly sizes. The Mini Idly Plate Set gives 6 mini idlis per plate in sets of 3 or 4. The Trio and Smart Multi Kadai come in 20 and 23 cm with 2 idly plates.
What is a Choodarapetty (China pot) rice cooker?
